Fall Fun!

I am little late on getting these posted, but they are too cute not to. My kids are in heaven with a pile of leaves and a rake (or snow shovel). They played in the leaves until their hands were like ice cubes. I have to tell you a funny story about Keyton. The other day we were driving in the car and he says to us, "one of my friends.... I can't remember which one.... his parents do not like President Obama. (then in a disgusted voice) They didn't even vote for him!!!" Trevor and I looked at each other and busted up laughing. Why is my 5 year old discussing politics with his friends???? We sadly had to break the news to him that his parents didn't vote for President Obama either. I think he was a little upset with us. Too funny!

Seth is getting big and FINALLY starting to try to talk. He can say mom, dad, shoes, book, go, uh-oh, duck, and he can make lots of animal sounds. According to him, a deer says "raaarrrr" Not sure where he got that from. He is a funny little guy and we love him to pieces.

We are very excited to celebrate Christmas and life is crazy busy right now. I love this time of year and it always goes by way too quickly. Hope you all are enjoying the Holidays as much as we are!

Thank You for My Children

I got the opportunity to help at Keyton's Preschool Thanksgiving feast. At the end of it, they all sat in a circle and told what they were thankful for. It was so cute because instead of saying, "I'm thankful for....." they would say, "thank you for........." Their answers were so precious to. Pets, parents, pillows, the world, toys... Keyton's answer was Jesus. How sweet is he???? So today I am saying, "thank you for my children" I think I take for granted how easy it is for me to get pregnant, how well my pregnancies have gone, and the fact that I have two amazingly smart and healthy boys. After seeing friends who have struggled with all of these things lately, it makes me soooo grateful to hear those screams that they can produce. There is a poem that my sister showed to me, and I wanted to share it with anyone reading this too:
How do you think of your children? On any given day, would you say your children are a blessing or a burden? Here is a challenge to you... How are you?... How is the baby?...How are your kids?...We all hear these questions every day. Do you know a mom who always answers something like this: "well, I haven't killed my 2 year old yet, so i guess that's good." or , "I'm just exhausted," or "Things are absolutely crazy- I am so stressed out" Maybe that frazzled haggard, bewildered mommy is someone you know. Maybe it is you. I know, I've been there. Here is my question to you today... are we bearing our blessings as burdens? Those babies that we dreamt of and prayed for, that we had so much fun choosing names for, that we counted the days to meet... are they burdens to us now? Those homes that we were ecstatic to move into... are they burdens now? That husband that we couldn't live without, that we picked out the wedding dress for, that we cried and ached and waited by the phone for... is he a burden now? That job you needed, you wanted and prayed for, that provides food and clothing for your family... is it a burden now? Sometimes it seems to me like a mantle we as moms must carry. We must be tired, we must be stressed out, we must be hurried and frazzled, we must be lucky just to make it through the day. Are we bearing our blessings as burdens? Are we tired? Absolutely. As moms, we know about the 2 a.m. feedings, the nightmares, the wet beds, the midnight curfews. Do things get a little stressful between PTA meetings, dance class, the T-Ball game, and dinner on the table at 6? Sure they do. Are husbands always a joy when they get home from work? No way. Is scrubbing the potty, doing the laundry, an cleaning the high chair tray the greatest thrill we've ever known? Of course not. So how do we look past the burdens and see the blessings of our families and our homes? Do you know any women who would give anything to have a baby to nurse at 2 a.m.? Anyone who would love to have those clothes we are sick of washing, or that house we just can't keep clean. Do you know any women whose husbands aren't coming home? I challenge you to bear your burdens as blessings and watch as they multiply. And the next time someone asks you how you are, throw off that identity of stressed out, frazzled mommy, find your smile and answer, "I am blessed!"

I know that I am soooo blessed and am very grateful for the wonderful things in my life. I hope you all feel the same too. Happy Thanksgiving.

We had a very fun Halloween this year and were excited that Trevor actually got to go Trick-or-Treating with us this year. Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays so we try to do everything available. However, it has turned into a week long ordeal than just 1 night of dressing up. Oh well. Guess we get our money's worth on the costumes when they have to wear them ALL week. Keyton picked his costume out at the very beginning of October and couldn't wait to wear it. He has been Ironman all month long, so we were glad it didn't have holes in the knees by the time Halloween actually came. Seth thought it was very cool that he was a monkey. He kept looking in the mirror and pointing to his reflection and then pointing to himself like "it's really me". Trevor and I dressed up as Cruella and her dog napper for an adult party we went to, and it was really fun. Now that Halloween is over, we are trying to get ready for Thanksgiving and I can almost bet my Christmas Tree will be up within the next 2 weeks. I just can't resist!

Photo Shoot

I needed some new pictures of my big boy around the house, so we took some this last week. He has grown so much and I know it sounds so cliche but seriously why does the time have to go by so quickly? He is almost 5 now and it feels like yesterday that he was born. I can't even explain how much I adore this guy. He is always saying the most hilarious and outrageous things. A friend of mine described him as "an old soul" and I can't think of a better way to describe him. Some of the things he loves to do right now are play baseball. He has gotten very good and we typically have at least one game a day out in our front yard. He can't wait til all his friends get home from school everyday to go out and play with them. He loves to play with his little brother and they love to dance together. The other day he told me when he is in High School he wants to have a band just like KISS, and he wants to be like Gene Simmons. He is a very "Green" child also. He makes sure we recycle everything we can, thinks littering is the worst sin you can commit, and he has to turn the water off to "save the whales". He uses big words all the time, and of course uses them properly. He also is a little mischief maker...Him and his little buddies got in trouble for teaching each other cuss words and then accidentally saying them loud enough that mom could hear, and also for making a "secret potion" that consisted of their pee! Boys will be boys but REALLY.... that's sick. Anyway... I love him and hope every day that he knows that no matter what I will always love him and be there for him.
This is my favorite. Isn't he soo handsome?
He looks so grown up.
More of my favorites.

He wanted to pose himself and this is what

he came up with. Classic Keyton!!!!

This explains his personality to a T.

Goodbye to Summer

As summer is ending and fall is in the air, I had to look back at some of our summer pictures. We started off the summer with a backpacking trip in Escalante which was a blast. It is one of the most amazingly beautiful areas I have ever been in. We visited 4 different zoos this summer and it was so fun. Of course Keyton loved it, but I was so surprised by how much Seth loved it. He thought the animals were so cool and could spot almost all of them. Then he would point at them and get very excited. We also loved going boating with Rick and Sari this summer. Keyton LOVED the tube and would ride it til his face turned green. He even got up on water skis by the end of the summer. He was very brave! Seth was just mesmerized by the boat and would make little motor sounds the entire time. Of course we had to go on a few camp trips (not enough I might add) and we really enjoyed having our new camper this summer. We love being outdoors and our kids love nothing more than digging in dirt and throwing rocks in any river, stream, lake, pond, etc. We took a few trips to the swimming pool, and I must say my kids are both little fish. Seth would run as fast as he could as deep as he could get and then just dive in and come up laughing. Keyton just never wanted to get out of the water and loved swimming around with his life jacket on. Other than that we just enjoyed being at home watching our kids slip and slide, swim in the pool, and run through the sprinkler. Keyton got pretty good on his bike this summer but still will not attempt no training wheels. He loved playing baseball with his neighborhood friends and has mastered the art of the "real baseball slide" . Seth has gotten so smart over the summer and understands most things I tell him, but he has yet to learn many words. Hopefully those will come soon. He learned to throw temper tantrums, and I must admit they are the cutest funniest things you have ever seen (for now). We enjoyed this summer and anytime that we got to spend together as a family. We look forward to fall and winter, but we will miss all this outside time.

Keyton Goes to Preschool

Keyton started preschool last Wednesday and he is loving it. His teacher is Miss Jen and he looks forward to going to her house every day. He thinks he can spend the night there but I keep telling him that is never going to happen. It was strange the first day having my house so quiet for 2 hrs. I know he will do great in school. He is such a smart kid and I love him to pieces.
P.S. I love how he poses himself for pictures.

We have had such a busy and fun summer and it's kinda sad the end is coming. However, fall weather is my favorite. I love the cool evenings and seeing my apples ripen and my garden full! This has been an amazing summer and I didn't even accomplish half the things I wanted to. However, Trevor and I have both accomplished 2 things that are pretty big for us.

Trevor has been in the Army National Guard since he was 17. He loves the army and would do it full time if he had a nice enough wife. About 2 years ago, him and his friend Jared decided to apply for the Officer Candidate School. Trevor said he never thought he would be an officer, but he was really excited about the idea of doing it. He worked so hard to earn enough school credits and of course he got in. He started drilling in Boise, and he did that for 18 months. He also did a 2 week training in South Dakota and a 2 week training in Washington. He graduated in August and we are so proud of him! He had his graduation from OCS in Boise and it was cool to see him all dressed up in his dress uniform. He got a position in the Utah Guard so he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant down in Draper this week. To finish up, he will have to do a 5 month training in Oklahoma. It will be a fun adventure for our family to experience living somewhere else. I just have to say how proud I am of him and how I admire his willingness to serve. Him signing up for OCS has also been a huge blessing because since he has schooling to finish, he will not have to deploy with all the other Idaho Guard right now. Disappointing for him, but a huge relief for me! My hearts go out to all families who have to give up their loved ones right now. Trevor's brother will be over there and it is a very scary thing. There is nothing greater than a soldier and his or her family!

Accomplishment number 2 is mine. Ever since my neighbor Chrissy ran the Ogden Marathon last year, I have wanted to run one. However, anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a long distance runner. Sprinting is more my thing. I had never ran over a mile before this year. So, in February, we set a goal to run the half marathon. Better to start with half right? We have been training all summer, and our race was this weekend. I am proud to say "I finished it!" My time was 2:12:28.7. I am extremely glad I did it and finished, but I must admit I still HATE running. How can people say it becomes an addiction???? No worries about me becoming addicted to it. I am setting a goal though to run the full marathon before I am 30. But for now, I think I'm ready for a running break.

1 Year Pics

My sister took Seth's 1 year pictures and I couldn't believe what a good boy Seth was. He was in heaven when we dumped those balls out and was literally diving in them. He kept saying, "Ball...ball...ball" That's one of the few words he knows. This kid loves to play ball. We have gone to a few of Colby's baseball games lately and today Keyton and I were practicing some batting. Seth walks up behind Keyton and squats down like the catcher ready to catch the ball. It was hilarious. Here are a few of my favorite pics:

Seth Turns 1!

My baby turned 1 on Thursday! I can't believe it has already been a year. If feels like yesterday they were laying him in my arms. I must say that being a mom is the greatest gift in the world and I love being able to stay home and experience each milestone with them. Seth has been such a joy. He started out a huge home body and cried any time we tried to go anywhere. He has learned things very quickly... rolling over after a month, crawling at 5 months, and walking at 11 months. He just wants to be able to keep up with his big brother. He is so sweet when he smiles, his eyes just light up! He is kinda a mama's boy, but I am enjoying that for now. Some of the other things he can do now are: Say "mama" "dada" "ball", He loves wrestling with his brother, he LOVES to play ball and bat it around with his little baseball bat, he loves to make silly sounds and is always coming up with new ones, he loves being outside, and he loves water. We took him to the pool on Friday and it's a miracle he didn't drown. He just kept crawling out as deep as he could as fast as he could. He was a fish! This has been a great year and I look forward to witnessing another. Here are some pictures of the big day:
My friend helped me make this puppy dog cake
that looked just like his favorite stuffed animal that
he cannot sleep without!
Good Morning Birthday Boy!
Slip n Sliding
Seth loved making Root Beer
He tried to lick up the smoke

Seth with his Puppy
He loved opening presents at
first but got bored pretty quickly

He really enjoyed that cake!!!

Seth Walks!!!!

Yes! Seth has started walking. It all started about 2 weeks ago when he decided to start taking steps between furniture. He then went to pulling himself up on furniture, taking 2 steps and then falling down because he thought we were clapping and laughing at the falling down part. He has gotten really good since then and now he can stand up in the middle of the floor and just start walking. He is so smart and so cute and his big brother could not be prouder of him. Every time Seth starts walking, Keyton cheers him on and then yells for me to come see how good he is doing. These 2 are already becoming best friends.

What have we been doing lately?

I hope you can see Keyton's Tiger face in the small pic! (halarious)
and look at the cheeks on that smiling baby!
Don't you just want to kiss them?

Pictures could never do this place justice!

I feel like Lightning McQueen!

We have been so busy and I barely have a minute to myself to blog. But a little catch-up is necessary. In may, we went to Hogle Zoo and it was perfect weather. We stayed with some friends in their time share and it was so fun to get to relax and enjoy some time together. Then we went backpacking to Escalante a couple weekends ago, and it was a blast. I love that hike and am amazed by the scenery there. We also went camping last weekend and got snowed on. (gotta love that Idaho weather!) Most of my time has been consumed with coaching my niece's softball team. It is a lot of work and has made me appreciate the time and dedication my coaches put in for me. Why do we always learn these things too late in life???? My baby is going to be 1 this month and it is giving me anxiety! Where did the time go???? Seth loves to dance to music, throw a ball back and forth, watch his brother be crazy, EAT, and he is actually taking a few steps on his own. He is such a cutie and such a good boy. When we went to Escalante, it was my first time leaving him overnight and it was for 4 days. I was so worried, but he did great! I'd like to think I'm more needed than I actually am I guess. But it was priceless to see their little faces light up when we got home!

I Love me some boys

Just wanted to share some recent pics:

See the fine example Keyton is to Seth!

Seth on Easter Day. He was more cooperative

than Keyton as you can see...

And just a little update on my two little crazies: Seth is growing so fast and it is hard to believe he is only 3 months away from being 1! YIKES! He finally cut his first tooth just the other day and he has been waiting for this moment. Bring on the steak and potatoes cuz this kid can put it away. He already out eats Keyton. He spends hours going up and down our stairs and thinks it is so funny to scare family members by pretending he is going to fall down them. He knows how to go down them backwards but likes to see who he can make jump up and catch him. He walks all around the furniture and pushes his little train thing all around the living room. I think he will walk in the next month or so. He is just ready! Seth's most favorite this is his soft little puppy and the second he gets it in his hand, the thumb goes in the mouth and he is ready to fall asleep. But when he wakes up he finds it and throws it out of the crib and then squawks until I come get it cause he can't go to sleep without it. He is such a stink about it! He loves to play pat-a-cake, follow his mom everywhere around the house, wrestle with Keyton, and watch Keyton run around like a maniac. He waves bye-bye, says dada, and he calls me lala for some reason. The last couple days he has been obsessed with this kazoo that he found and will sit there and play it. It is hilarious. I love this little guy even though he still makes me get up with him in the night.
Keyton is crazy and funny as ever. That kid is not lacking in personality in any way. He is full of mischief, curiosity, questions, comments, and sassiness. He also has a bit of a cussing problem at some moments (mostly when he is playing the wii) Right now he is OBSESSED with superheros. He can tell you about any hero you want to know about and begs me to buy him comic books? Where do you even find comic books??? He knows all about sidekicks and the justice league. I don't even know what these things are but he tells me all about them. It is very comical how much he gets into it. He is so big and knows everything about everything (just ask him) but one of my most favorite things he still does and I will be so sad when he figures it out, but he will say that he is going to ask somebody something when he really means he is going to tell them and that he is going to tell somebody something when he really means he is going to ask them. So like he will say, "I'm gonna ask my teacher that Robin is batman's sidekick" I love it!!!! Anyway, my kids are getting so big and it breaks my heart but I am finding much joy in this part of my journey.

Another Baby!

No I'm not pregnant, but we did get a new addition to our family today. I think we are insane, but my husband convinced me to get another dog. We really wanted a great dane, but we got an opportunity to get a full bred brindle bull mastiff. So basically we got a $1000 dog for free. He is a really good dog and his name is Aries. These pictures don't do him justice, they make him look small, but he is really actually 105 lbs. Are we crazy or what???

When Did This Happen?

When did my baby get so big??? We got home tonight and I was looking at Seth asleep in his car seat (which he is really getting too big for, but I have attachment issues) and could not believe how fast time has gone. I feel like we were just bringing him home in this car seat and now his feet are hanging out of it. He is such a cute little guy though. I'm sure you can see the bruise on his forehead. I think it's a permanent fixture there since he keeps crawling into everything.... chairs, walls, anything. He has figured out how to climb up the stairs too. He is a very busy little guy. Anyway here are some pics of my little fellow:
His first mess as a busy body. Doesn't he look so innocent??
I love these jamies but I don't think I can cram
him in them one more time.
The pictures I took tonight. How sweet is he?

6 yrs ago today...

see how far we've come

some of the things we love
to do

I married the love of my life. I know, sounds completely cheesy but this entire post is gonna be cheese central, so fair warning. I just wanted to write down some thoughts that I am having today as I think about the last 6 years. Have they been a breeze??? Most certainly not. Have there been days I wanted to kill my husband??? Absolutely. But has it been worth it??? Most definitely. I don't think when Trevor and I got married we realized how truly lucky we were to get each other. We were young and in love and it was great. But what has happened since then has gotten even better. He has truly become my absolute best friend and my life partner. Trevor is always willing to listen to and try to help me with any problem that I come to him with. We LOVE spending time together and are always trying to take advantage of every minute we have together. He will help me with anything I ask but most of the time I don't even have to ask, he is just already there doing it. He is a wonderful example of putting others first and always trying to improve himself. He has given me two wonderful children, and is an amazing dad. He is always trying to spend as much time with our kids as he can. Another thing I love about Trevor is that he is not just a sit on the couch and watch TV kind of guy. He is always busy doing something and we have got to do many fun things because of it. However, I do love those moments when we get to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie. Trevor is always making me feel better about myself and he truly makes me a better person. I hope I have done the same in return for him.

So Trevor, thanks for the last 6 years. I look forward to many more. Thanks for the good times, the foot rubs (even though I know you hate it), all your help and support, and mostly for your love. I love you!

We R Still Alive.. I promise.

Every day I think to myself, " I need to update my blog." Then the day just flies by with no time. So a few things that have been going on here. We have been enjoying what little snow we get. Of course Keyton loves to go out and help Dad shovel snow. Seth had to watch from the window and was very upset he didn't get to go out too. Then Trevor and Keton made a snowman, so I took Seth out for a pic with it. We have gone skiing and snowshoeing a few times. Our kids love being outside and enjoying the outdoors with us. I actually took Keyton skiing for his first time this year and he did really well. He thinks he is ready for the big lift at Beaver but I told him he has got to learn to stop first. Over the last few months, Seth has learned to sit up, crawl, and go up the stairs. He doesn't relax for a second. Now we are experiencing the joys of teething! He is growing very fast. We are just having fun and looking forward to the summer. Hope you all are doing great too.

Cat in the Hat

I've been meaning to post this for a while now, but haven't had time. The week of Keyton's birthday, I had preschool and I did a preschool birthday party. It was Cat in the Hat themed and we had a great time. We did lots of Dr. Suess themed games and then we had a surprise visitor. That's right.... Cat in the Hat came. I know you are all wondering who that handsome man in the suit is... yep that's my hubby. What a good sport he was when I came up with this idea. I didn't even have to beg him. He is seriously the best husband and dad ever.

Ok.... I can't procrastinate it any longer. But I think I need some help from all of you. Let me explain... Before I had Seth, I was going to the gym everyday and loved it. Then, the gym I was going to took away their daycare, making it impossible for me to go. So, naturally, I just quit going and paid the membership out. Now it is cancelled, and I am in serious need of some weight loss. Here's my dilemma, I can either join Fitness or Golds Gym. I've heard that Fitness has way better classes (which I am one that has to go to classes due to lack of self motivation) but the facility is outdated and a little bit scary if you want to know the truth. The daycare there is also this small room with no windows and looks like a dungeon but nice people watching the kids. But keep in mind... Good Classes. Gold's Gym is brand new, hotsy totsy, awesome daycare; however, I have heard the classes are horrible.
So, since I have been debating this for almost a year now, I'm calling on you to make a decision for me. PLEASE!!!!! Fitness or Golds??????

Happy Birthday Keyton!

Keyton turned 4 on Tuesday and it has been a week full of birthday fun for him. He got to have a family party and we had a party with his friends from preschool too. I made him a spiderman cake and he thought it was great, and we had a Dr. Suess birthday party with friends. He has been so funny about it though. He has a measuring stick in his room and he is still 3'4'' so we can not convince him that he is 4 years old because he "doesn't reach the 4 yet" Trevor tried explaining that he isn't 27 feet tall, but Keyton doesn't get it. So I guess he will be 3 for a little while longer which is fine with me. Some of Keyton's favorite things are:

- Wrestling his little brother

-playing Army guys

-his new Bakugans

-Reading books for hours

-He loves going to preschool and can almost write his name by himself.

-He wants to be a monster truck driver when he grows up and his truck will be named Lightning Bolt

-He also wants to be a boxer when he grows up

-He is still always good for snuggles, and tons of loves!

-Getting very good about helping mom out around the house

- Idolizes his dad and wants to be just like him

-Loves playing sports

-Says his favorite color is Silver!

Trevor and I adore this little guy and love getting to laugh at him daily. He is truly a character!

Oh my...

I just barely got Seth's blessing pictures from my sister, and as I was looking through them, it made me really sad. Why do babies have to get big so fast???? It's amazing to think he was so little just 6 months ago. I have to admit that when we found out Seth was not the girl I thought he was, I was pretty disappointed, but now I can't imagine my life without this little guy. I love seeing his face light up when I go to get him out of bed in the mornings, I love how he grabs my cheeks with all he's got and gives me the biggest kisses ever, and when I walk into a room how excited he gets thinking I'm going to pick him up. I love seeing him laugh at his big brother and try his very hardest to get across the room. I love how he smiles with his whole body and will give you a smile even if he is crying at the same time. I love being a mom and am soooo thankful I get to stay home to witness all of this!
